Name: Toxic Jack
Hometown: Leeds, UK
1. Who inspired you to want to go to wrestling school?
Honestly, before I found grapple I had been searching for months, maybe a year or so for a decent wrestling school. I think the person who inspired to want t go to wrestling school and learn how to wrestle was people on WWE, mostly Rey Mysterio to be honest. I loved watching him and as a little kid I’d look up to him and knew I wanted to be just like him
2. How did you come up with the gimmick that you have?
I came up with Toxic Jack after deciding I know longer liked being possessor, I wanted something that would look more realistic so to speak. I started creating gear designs and then remembered how much i wanted to be a masked wrestler (hence the mask) and that’s where the gear came from, as for the character, it’s basically me. Hyperactive, happy and always wanted to be loved by everyone yet at the same time gets his ass kicked easily. I’ve still got a lot of getting used to being toxic Jack but I know once I nail how I want to be it’s gonna be good.
3. How long have you been a trainee at the Grapple school?
I started grapple wrestling on the 10th of march, 2012. I remember messaging Paul 2 days after my 16th asking about it and he kindly gave me information. I came down for my first session and what do you know? I loved it.
4. When did you make your debut and were you nervous?
My debut was on 30th September, 2012. It was a dark match against my good friend Joey Divine. I was more nervous of the fact that my mum and (at the time) best friend, who were no way wrestling fans, were watching, then the fact I was about to have my first show but yes, I was very nervous but it was a great experience.
5. Is wrestling a long term goal of yours?
Yes. Wrestling’s not just a hobby. Its something I love, It’s my life and I don’t ever want that to change. I am most certainly aiming for wrestling to be my one true goal in life.
6. Who on the UK wrestling scene do you watch that blows you away?
This is tough, not cause I don’t watch many people but because there’s so many amazing wrestlers! but out of all of them it comes down to just 2 wrestlers. El Ligero and Kris Travis. They are just too amazing wrestlers and I mean AMAZING! I love watching there matches because i know unlike what I see on TV, I will never get bored of watching them!
7. Do you have any favourite promotions on the UK scene that you aim to work for one day?
There’s so many brilliant promotions with such amazing talent but I would definitely love to work on ether, Southside Wrestling, Preston City Wrestling or Tidal wrestling.
8- Do you see a lot of promise from inside the Grapple school?
Absolutely! Grapple is full to bursting with talent. I don’t like naming names cause of the fact some people ay get pissed off (sorry for language) if I don’t mention them but some of the wreslter’s in grapple I see making it big time have got too be: Joey Divine, Adam Rose, Super J, Erin night etc.
9. What do you think the West Yorkshire wrestling scenes chances of being taken seriously are now after previous bad incidents in recent years?
Personally I don’t want to put my input. West Yorkshire wrestling isn’t on a whole as bad as people make it out too be. Too many people whine and bitch about promotions or training schools without hearing the reason behind the story and instead just go on what they’ve been told. Which has usually been mixed up.
10. Which overseas wrestling promotion would you love to be apart of besides WWE or TNA?
There’s a lot of great overseas promotions and it’s hard to think of all the one’s I’d love to work for but at the end of the day it’s got to be ether PWG in America or NJPW in Japan. Two of my favorite promotions that aren’t based in the UK.
Thank you Jack.
